I've covered the garden with candle-lit lanterns and tea light holders and it's making me feel very peaceful after a long hot week!
Candle light is so soothing, and I definitely need that! In February of this year I was diagnosed with a brain condition called Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension; in simple terms, I have fluid on the brain causing pressure with no known cause. I consider myself lucky, as it was picked up during a routine eye test before any real damage was caused.
I had to have a CT and MRI scan, and an ultrasound on my eyes, and finally a lumbar puncture to drain the fluid from my brain through my spine. That gave me a chronic three-day headache which caused many tears!
I'd never heard of the condition before and I'm told that it is quite rare, but I've been lucky - thanks to the internet - to be in contact with other suffers and I really am lucky as the lumbar puncture and medication have the condition under control. Having suffered with headaches and migraines for many years, it's been a bit of a relief to finally know why.
Still, after 15 years of suffering, my body still comes up with 'new' headaches and symptoms, which is why I'm sat here in the garden at night in candle lit peace! The latest thing is an intense pressure headache near the base of my skull/neck. Pain killers don't do much for this kind, so I'm trying cool, fresh air and relaxation.
Sorry for the medical lesson!! I hope you have a wonderful Friday, wherever you are and whatever you are doing!
