SUMMER 2014 NEWSLETTER
A Message From Me...
When I started on my journey as an independent author almost two years ago I didn't imagine I would be here, doing this today. I published my first story, Danny Boy, on 2nd July 2013 and that 'little book' has been downloaded many hundreds of times across the UK, USA, Canada, Germany and even Japan!
My website gets up to 350+ hits per day and I even get royalty payments just for putting my imagination down on paper and putting it 'out there' for people to see and, I hope, enjoy.
It started out with a little boy niggling away at me every day to tell his story, eventually I gave in and Danny Boy has caused a few tears to be shed by readers. Then another story came to me, and another, and another. Last count I had 21 works in progress / waiting. Wow, how did that happen??
I'll tell you how... the most special person in my whole life - my Mum. Since I first had the idea for Danny Boy I would show her what I had written and she would say, "Get on with it then, where's the rest?" and "When can I read the rest of it?" She was my motivation from the start and I miss her dearly. She passed away on 6th June this year after being diagnosed with stomach and womb cancer in September 2013.
I am so glad I finally got my books published so she could see, but so sad that she didn't get to see Pieces of Me finished, because she'd really enjoyed what she'd read so far. I miss her every day, I know she is looking down on me saying "Get on with it, that book won't write itself."

BookmarksIn preparation for the release of Pieces of Me I now have stock of my own bookmarks! I will be sending them out to anyone who has a copy of Telling Tales and would like one; they will also be given away with pre-ordered copies of Pieces of Me once it goes on sale.
The Indie Author LoungeI have created a group on Facebook which all indie authors - and readers of course - are welcome to join. I will be sharing my experience as an indie author, offering pieces of advice and sharing what has worked for me so far on my journey.

Book ReviewsI have launched a new page on the website for my book reviews for fellow indie authors.
I have had the good luck of finding a group of indie authors and book reviewers on Facebook. Each month three indie authors feature in the group and exchange their books for honest reviews. I have found some awesome books and authors there and wanted to 'pay it forward' on the website. You can view my reviews to date using the button below. Author InterviewsRecently I have been taking part in some author and character interviews with my fellow indie writers. This has been great fun and a good way to find new audiences for our work.
The interviews are posted as a blog, with a throw back to the writer who invited us and an introduction to those who will be coming next. Then we answer a set of questions about our writing and the books we are currently working on. Keep a look out on my blog for future interviews! |
