About L. J. Whiskens...
Laura J Whiskens (June 18th, 1983 -) was born in a small town on the outskirts of Birmingham and now lives in the picturesque town of Coleshill, Warwickshire (UK).
Her favourite authors include Terry Pratchett, Cecilia Ahern, Torey Hayden, Kim Edwards and Mitch Albom. "I love the Discworld series - especially the books about The Watch, Sam Vimes and Captain Carrot are fantastically written characters; I love Cecilia Ahern's modern day twist fairy tales and Mitch Albom's look at life after death."
Laura says about her writing: "I have been writing for as long as I could hold a pen! It's taken many years, lots of practice and life experience to finally be able to 'finish' one of my stories. People might think that it's pretty easy to write a beginning, a middle and an end - it really isn't! The beginning comes to you quickly, clearly; the middle is a bit harder... An ending is almost impossible! The harder you try, the more elusive it becomes."
Of her debut publication, Danny Boy, Laura states "it flowed through my fingertips straight onto the Word document in front of me. I felt so passionately about Danny and Catherine's story, it was very personal to me and so it was easy to write. The ending was inevitable, it had to be that way to make a real impact on my readers. So, I'm sorry - I know it made many of you cry!"
The Hunter and The Boy came soon after Danny Boy was released, via Amazon. "I was watching a cop series and thought, what about the serial killer's story?? I drafted The Hunter and released it in less than 48 hours! It's been a popular story, with many asking if there will be more and so came The Boy. I can confirm that I plan to make this into a collection of short stories and these will be available in Winter 2013/2014."
Finally, in her 30's, writing is coming easily to Laura she feels... "The flood gates have opened and I can't stop writing! I'll be in the middle of drafting one story and another will burst in to my head... I think Danny Boy has been my salvation."
