I am organising a blog tour in preparation for the release of Pieces of Me. If you have a blog and would be interested in taking part please click on the banner below. It will take you to a Google Doc form and has more information about the tour.
I will return the favour!
Pieces of Me is not far off being finished now; unfortunately I'm struggling to find beta readers and someone to help with the editing (everyone I know of is already booked up, pardon the pun). At this stage although the writing (minus any edits) will be complete by the middle to end of August, the editing etc may take me up to Christmas, booooo!
Therefore I've decided to get started on some short stories which will be released on Amazon Kindle edition throughout the rest of 2014 and I will put them together in a paperback at some point in 2015. Good thing I have a plethora of ideas in mind! Happy weekend. xx Undecided on whether or not to see where this takes me or to leave it as a piece of flash fiction... Opinions?
"I know you're not real." "Says who?" "You can't be, you're dead." "Death isn't the end, Cat." "But I watched you die. This is all in my head." "Just because it's in your head doesn't mean it isn't real." I put my hands up to cover my ears. Mum just carried on sitting at the end of the bed and smiled at me. I squeezed my eyes shut to block out the image of her and counted to ten in my head before I opened them again. She was gone. Slowly I dropped my hands from my head and looked around the room. There was no sign of her now. "Mum?" I called out, half expecting her to reply. Of course, she didn't. I'd watched her take her last breath six months earlier. I must have been dreaming still and only just woken up. A tear escaped and trailed down my freckled cheek. It had seemed so real. Characters are having conversations in my head again... I wonder where this one will find a home?
"She, she..." "Oh spit it out!" "She makes my heart sing!" "Sing? And there was me thinking you were just screwing her." "Makes his heart sing?! While I bear his children she gives him the sound of music! Can you believe it?" I take another sip of my cocktail while my girlfriends absorb what I've told them about my pig of a husband. My goodness it's hot here in the UK! Obviously we're famed for our awful weather and grey sides, but that definitely is not the case right now! We've had glorious sunshine and sweltering heat since May now, it's almost unbearable (and it feels SO wrong to say that!).
Tonight when I finished my 9-5 I had every intention of writing lots... but the heat got to me and I had a nap instead... whoops. I'm sat in bed now with the fan on, cuddled up to two of my furbabies and all I can think of is cheeseburgers - of the MacDonald's kind. Now the thought is in my head it won't go away. I don't dare attempt any writing because no doubt cheeseburgers will sneak in to the story somehow! xxx Whoops, it's been a week since my last blog post on here! I don't know where the time goes...
On 1st March 2014 I started work on my current book, Pieces of Me. Too many hours/days/weeks/months later I am ever closer to the end! Of course, being the haphazard writer that I am, the end was written moons ago. It's the end-of-the-middle that's taking it's time. I have seven complete chapters, and three more partially written - that's before the editing stage; when that time comes none of the ten chapters will really be complete since I will no doubt be adding to them further. In other book/writing related news, I have posted two new book reviews on, well, the Book Reviews page. I am a little behind in my reading but there will be more to come over the summer. I have a two week holiday at the end of next month so I plan to catch up then and post my reviews once I get back home. You will also find a new page on here called eNewsletter. I will be updating this page quarterly with a newsletter about different things I have been up to. I was undecided as to whether I should create this as an email shot, but right now I think I will leave it as a webpage and see how things go with that - that way, you can read it or you can ignore it, your call! I have also posted the 'Meet My Character' document to the Pieces of Me page so you can read it without having to search through the blog archives. I will be posting more author and character interviews from my fellow indie authors over the next few months, so keep on checking in! Hope you've all had an awesome weekend. xxx Before I wore myself out with housework (it's way too hot for housework in the UK today!) I took a little time to revamp my ePressKit in preparation for the release of Pieces of Me.
There is still some work to do (adding the pre-release reviews etc) but I'm quite pleased with it so far! Click on the picture below to check it out for yourself! NB: Any book reviewers or press who would like to know more about the new book, or me, please fill in the Contact Form on the ePressKit website and someone will get back to you! So this week I have learned that I can get a lot of writing done, as long as it's handwritten! I wrote 1,808 words earlier in the week and a further 2,701 today. I have cramp from all of the writing but apparently a notepad and pen hold a lot less distractions than a computer... No Facebook. Twitter, Google, etc.
It seems I have found my downfall as a writer - the internet! I'll type up what I've written today and then write the next chapter my hand. Perhaps my boyfriend hogging the laptop is actually quite a blessing for the fate of Pieces of Me after all. I'll be working on some character and author interviews for some indie writer friends I met on a Facebook group in the next couple of weeks so check out my Book Review blog page for those. |
