Danny Boy was a story which first came to my mind about a year ago. My nephew had recently passed away and he was disabled from birth.
I didn't act on it right away and made no note of it at all. But he kept coming back to me, niggling away and growing until I had to write Danny and Catherine's story.
The first half of the book flowed out on to paper but then life got in the way and I stopped writing the story for several months. I'd given the first half to my parents to read and my mother kept asking me when the rest would be ready. She'd really enjoyed it and so she wouldn't let me leave it unfinished!
She was the first person to read Danny Boy when it was finished and it moved her to tears... I knew then that I had to publish it!
The Hunter came to me not long after Danny Boy was published. I was watching a crime drama on TV and the idea popped into my mind - this time it took me just one day to write, start to finish.
Again, my mother was the first person to read it and she enjoyed it so The Hunter became my second publication. She pushes me to carry on and finish the stories I start, so I will always be sure to send manuscripts I start to her in order to motivate me to keep going.
The Visitor is based on my own 'spooky' experiences, and those I have been told by friends and relatives. At times I have made myself a little jumpy after writing this book!
My mother likes this one too... I'd better get cracking with the rest of the book!
