Danny Boy was L. J. Whiskens' debut publication, released in July 2013. The short story has received several 5* reviews on Amazon's UK and USA sites as well as positive comments on her Facebook fan page. Over 200 copies of this short story have been downloaded worldwide.
Danny Boy is written in the style of a memoir from the point of view of Catherine. Born in to a small country town, Catherine became aware from a very young age that people looked at her best friend, Danny, differently.
This is a thoughtfully written, emotional story which highlights how society looks at those who are different to the 'norm'. To Catherine, however, Danny is simply her best friend and soul mate and their friendship is strong enough for her to see through his Downs Syndrome and only see his beautiful heart and soul.
It is easy to see why some readers have mistaken this for a true story as L. J. Whiskens certainly wrote this straight from the heart and evokes real emotion from her readers with this sweet, heartbreaking tale of friendship and loyalty.
Well deserving of the 5* reviews already received.
