Ryshia Kennie recently invited me to take part in a 'Blog Hop' - today this is an author hop! This means that the blog will be passed, like a torch, from one author to another. Thank you to Ryshia for inviting me; I met her through a lovely group on Facebook for writers and readers to communicate and we writers give copies of our work in exchange for reviews. The purpose of the blog hop is so that you can find out a little more about the authors participating in the hop, starting with me (with a throw back to Ryshia as a thank you) and moving on to the author(s) I have tagged. Before I answer the four questions that will tell you about me, here is Ryshia's website and Amazon info! http://ryshia.blogspot.co.uk/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ryshia-Kennie |
1. What am I working on? I had a little count the other day and I currently have NINETEEN open projects! I keep coming up with new ideas but I am trying to focus my mind on what I plan to be my next release - Pieces of Me. It is a modern fiction based in Britain about a girl called Celeste, who is... special. I'll say no more! 2. How does my work differ from writers of the same genre? I suppose that we all put a little 'piece' of ourselves into our work and so this is what makes my work different - I am me and they are them. I don't base my books on anything that I have read - although I am an avid reader - lots of times my ideas develop from dreams I've had or a random thought which pops in to my head. I don't strive to be 'like' another writer although I would be happy to be compared. 3. Why do I write what I do? I haven't pinned myself down to a particular genre or style as yet. I just write what I like, ideas which run away with me. My first publication, Danny Boy, was written because he wouldn't stop bugging me to write his story. Yeah, that's a huge factor... My characters take over, they become 'real' and they can keep on at me to write this or write that, and I write until they leave me alone. Sometimes they go on a little holiday and leave me hitting my head against a wall because I don't know what happens next in their story. Then they come back jumping up and down shouting "did you miss me?!" 4. How does my writing process work? There's supposed to be a process?! Oops. I generally get an idea at an inconvenient time so I scribble it down on a scrap of paper and put it somewhere safe until I can go back to it. Then I write until my mind runs dry and I then start to 'plot' the story and decide where I want it to go. Or 'them', generally the characters decide. They use me for my typing skills basically. Colin Frankel is an old friend of mine; we met in high school and have been friends ever since. He dipped his toes in to the world of publishing before me, so he was a great help to me when I started out. Colin is a British writer of fantasy/science fiction/dystopia style novels. He currently has two books available in both paperback and Kindle edition called The Touched and Paragons. These are the first two stories in his World of the Touched series. http://rustyswriting.weebly.com/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Touched-World-Book |
Dawn Mason Garcia is a member of the group I mentioned earlier, where we swap stories for reviews. She is this month's featured writer too! Dawn is an American writer and her book 'Flawless' is available in Amazon's Kindle edition, this is the first story in the Final Choices collection. You can view Dawn's Blog Hop Monday 23rd June on her Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dawn-M-Garcia http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KPC3EYM |
